P1287 involves fibre-optic sensing technology that uses temperature, strain and acoustic/seismic data to monitor the integrity of embankments and tailings.
The outcome is a system capable of detecting subsurface changes in material properties within the whole volume of the embankment and adjacent tailings, prior to surface detection.
