Amira Global held strategic discussions with the CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Mines (GCoM) and his deputy to advance collaboration on the establishment of the Amira Africa Centre of Excellence (COE). The engagement forms part of Amira’s broader mission to partner with governments and key national institutions to strengthen skills development, research capacity, and innovation across Africa’s mining sector.

To harness the full benefits of Ghana’s mineral resources—from exploration through to operational mining—Amira Global is seeking a formal partnership with the Government of Ghana and its principal mining oversight body, the Ghana Chamber of Mines. Through this collaboration, the COE aims to enhance Ghana’s mining capabilities, promote sustainable sectoral growth, and support the development of a resilient, locally driven mining ecosystem.

During the meeting, Amira Global and the Chamber agreed on several next steps to advance the partnership:

  1. Finalisation of mutual membership arrangements – Amira Global will complete its membership process with the Ghana Chamber of Mines, and the Chamber will reciprocate by initiating its membership with Amira.
  1. Internal consultation and endorsement of a support letter – The Chamber will seek approval from its elected Council members to issue an official letter of support for the COE. This internal caucus is intended to ensure alignment and avoid overlap with the Chamber’s existing capacity-building initiatives.
  1. Support for COE promotion and visibility – Upon securing Council approval during their January meeting, the Chamber will assist in marketing and promoting the Amira Centre of Excellence to its member companies and wider stakeholders.

Amira Global looks forward to deepening its collaboration with the Ghana Chamber of Mines as both organisations work together to build strong human capital, advance research excellence, and unlock greater value for Ghana’s mining sector.
