On November 12–13, Amira Global joined the Ghana Chamber of Mines for the 2025 edition of the Mining Industry Marketing Expo (MIME). This annual event brings together key stakeholders across the mining value chainto discuss strategies for deepening local content participation and enhancing long-term value creation within Ghana’s mining sector.
This year, Amira Global leveraged the Business-to-Business (B2B) matchmaking sessions to engage with priority stakeholders on the Amira Africa Centre of Excellence (COE) Initiative. These engagements provided an important platform to highlight how the COE seeks to strengthen national capabilities, drive knowledge transfer, and support the development of a highly skilled workforce for Africa’s mining and minerals sector.
One of the core objectives of the COE Initiative is capacity building and human resource development. Through targeted skills development, industry-aligned training, and applied research programs, the COE is designed to empower local professionals, nurture emerging talent, and support countries in building sustainable, innovation-driven mining economies.
The COE remains committed to fostering a new generation of researchers and industry practitioners through the strategic design of its research programs. These programs integrate regular training, benchmarking opportunities, and direct industry application to ensure research outputs translate into meaningful operational and developmental impact.
During MIME, Amira strengthened its relationships with institutions such as the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT)—represented by the Vice Chancellor (first from the left)—and leading industry operators like Newmont, represented by its first female Chief Metallurgist (second from the right). These partnerships are central to the COE’s mission to connect academia, industry, and government in advancing excellence in mineral research, innovation, and workforce development.
Amira Global will continue to work closely with partners across Africa to support knowledge creation, talent development, and research leadership through the Centre of Excellence, ensuring African countries retain more value from their mineral resources and build resilient, future-ready mining industries.
