Late last year, Amira Global convened the first industry engagement sessions for our new conceptual program, P1372 Core Scanning Technology Evaluation — and the response was clear: the sector is ready for an independent, data-backed assessment of core scanning technologies.

Designed in collaboration with James Shreeve (Digital Lithics) and led by Tim Cross (Program Manager, Amira Global), P1372 aims to bring together miners, explorers, service providers, and researchers/SMEs in an open, case-study-based program to independently analyse and validate the outputs of commercially available core scanning technologies across a range of deposit types and geological characteristics.

At its core (pun intended), this program seeks to answer a fundamental question:

Which core scanning technologies — and which acquisition modes — are truly fit-for-purpose for your deposit, and why?

Why This Program Matters

Core scanning technologies continue to evolve rapidly, offering new capabilities in data acquisition, resolution, and analytical integration. Yet many geoscientists and technical leaders are asking:

P1372 is designed to provide the industry with an objective, acquisition-focused evaluation framework, enabling informed technical and investment decisions.

Follow-up discussions from our initial roundtables have been both insightful and encouraging. Support has come from across the spectrum — from junior explorers to major producers — confirming strong sector-wide interest in a collaborative, independent evaluation initiative.

As one thing is clear: geoscientists are curious about core scanning — but they want clarity.

To build on early momentum, Amira is hosting one further industry roundtable to:

If your organisation is interested in improving its understanding of the current core scanning landscape — and how it may support your technical and strategic objectives — we encourage you to join the discussion.

Additional roundtables for core scanning service providers and potential research partners will be announced once sufficient industry support is secured.

With strong early backing from members, we believe this program can deliver meaningful, independent insight for the sector. With your participation, we can make it happen.
