Approaching the midpoint of its 4-year duration and with 7 major sponsors already committed, Amira Global’s GAXI Project (P1335 Geodynamic Andes eXploration Initiative) continues to forge ahead, gathering and analysing data. This is all in support of its purpose: to turn complex Andean tectonic history into practical, evidence-based targeting criteria that sponsors can readily use to distinguish more prospective (Cu, Au, polymetallic) regions, structures and mineral systems from less prospective ones.
The latest field campaigns have seen the addition of hundreds more sample locations, collecting of structural/lithological data and specimens for a variety of technical purposes including petrology, geochemistry and age-dating.
Most excitingly, Amira is looking forward to meeting face-to-face with sponsor representatives and researchers in Lima, Peru on the 2nd and 3rd of September for presentations from the lead researchers (Daniel Wiemer and Steffen Hagemann) and their collaborators from:
– James Cook University
– The University of Western Australia Centre for Exploration Targeting
– Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) / CONICET
– Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú
– Universidad Austral de Chile
If you’re an explorer or operator of any size working in this region and trying to figure out how to reduce search space and improve discovery confidence (by identifying which inherited deep-crustal/lithospheric structures genuinely influence the spatial, temporal and genetic controls on major mineral systems), opportunities are still open to get involved – please reach out to tim.cross@amira.global for more information.
