The next phase of the highly successful West African Exploration Initiative (WAXI) series of projects.
WAXI is assisting the development of the mining ecosystem in West Africa. Sponsors are among those building capacity for future mining exploration in the region. To date WAXI has supported 100 post graduate qualifications, held 1800 technical training days, and developed a 650GB exploration geoscience database.
P934C builds on the approach taken in earlier stages by focusing on the mineral potential of the West African Craton.
It will augment the exploration potential of the Leo-Man shield, which includes Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Senegal, Niger, Sierra Leone, Togo, and Morocco.
The project will continue previous work examining the mineral systems in the Birimian terranes and neighbouring Archean, Pan-African Meso-Proterozoic and Phanerozoic basins, characterising and evaluating the role of the lithospheric and crustal architecture on the development of mineral systems through time.

- first access to the latest ideas on the formation and reworking of the West African Craton and its margins in the context of mineralisation
- preferential access to industry-selected training courses for your teams, held in the region, using local datasets. Quality and quantity of professional training has a demonstrable impact on local geologists and employers.
Sponsors will also have access to the wealth of information from the previous stages of WAXI. This includes 15 years of geoscientific data, ground-breaking shield-scale geochronology and geochemistry, and quarterly updates of project results, conceptual models and GIS-ready data.
