Overview:Amira’s P1245 “Spectral Induced Polarization (SIP)” project will explore ways to promote wide-spread industry use of SIP, by devising and testing solutions to factors currently limiting its utility and application”. Solutions to those limitations will be devised and tested.

Key deliverables from the two-year project include a knowledge “database” containing:

• Data and analytical results from the field programs: spectral signatures and character vs. chargeable source. This will incorporate information that exists from prior efforts in this field by the like of Anaconda, Newmont, Zonge, etc.
• Best practice recommendations regarding survey designs (incl. optimised waveforms) and data interpretation.
• Assessment and related recommendations regarding SIP models and parameterisation approaches.
• Further advancement recommendations and options

Benefits:

• An improved understanding of the potential and practicality of SIP delivering benefits to a range of interests, including mineral and mineral habit discrimination.
• SIP best practice standards for field and laboratory measurements.
• An improved understanding of the physical and electrochemical factors yielding resolvable influences in spectral induced polarization signatures. Accordingly, an improved ability to beneficially apply that understanding.
• Supporting field and laboratory measurements over a range of chargeable sources, ideally including:
  • disseminated Cu and Fe sulphides
  • interconnected (stockwork) Cu and Fe sulphides
  • massive sulphides
  • barren magnetite
  • magnetite with sulphides
  • graphite and/or graphitic units
  • hematite
  • sphalerite
  • mixed sulphide sources
• Exclusive access to the knowledge database over a period of 18 months after the project is complete.
