Webinar Series for P420G Sponsors

Amira Global P420G sponsors are invited to a series of exciting new webinars next month.

The new Geology for Gold Metallurgists series follows the highly successful Gold Processing for Geologists course run last year.

This course has been developed with Drs Angela Escolme and Julie Hunt at CODES, and features presentations and discussions with leading industry panellists.

Registrations are essential.

Session 1 – Geology for metallurgists

When: Thursday October 1, 2020

Time: 2 pm Perth | 4 pm Hobart

Overview: Fundamental geology for gold metallurgists, from rock types to gold deposit formation. What do geologists at all stages of the mining value chain look for in the rocks?

Panellists:

  • Sarah Cochrane (Navarre Minerals Ltd– Senior Exploration Geologist)
  • Carlos Diaz Castro (SoldGold – Exploration Geologist and UTAS MEconGeol student)

Session 2 – Gold deposit models for metallurgists

When: Thursday October 8, 2020

Time: 2 pm Perth/4 pm Hobart

Overview: An overview of how some important gold ore deposits form (including porphyry, epithermal, orogenic and paleoplacer) and their significant differences from a metallurgical perspective.

Panellists:

  • Joanne Morrison (Newcrest Mining – Snr Project Geologist)
  • Cam Harding (Northern Star – Project Metallurgist, Geology PostGrad)

Session 3 – Geological characterisation and geometallurgy

When: Thursday October 15, 2020

Time: 2pm Perth/4 pm Hobart

Overview: A closer look at gold ores through geological eyes with consideration to ore textures and their implications for metallurgy. An overview of geometallurgy and current techniques in geological characterisation of ore deposits with case study examples.

Panellists:

  • Luke Keeney (CRC-ORE, Chief Operating Officer)
  • Karyn Gardner (Newcrest Mining – Principal Geologist – Ore Deposit Knowledge)

Registration is open.

Once registered you will receive a confirmation email with instructions for joining the webinar. Registration must be via a sponsoring company email unless company IT policy will not allow the Zoom platform. The recordings will be available for a week for those unable to make the live sessions.
