P1364 Minerals that Matter: Alteration Mineral Assemblage Analysis for Hydrothermal Copper Systems

Program Overview P1364 Minerals That Matter (Hydrothermal Cu) is an applied research program designed to accelerate discovery and delineation of hydrothermal Cu (+/- Au, U, Co) deposits. The project uses rapidly-collected, SEM-calibrated alteration mineral assemblage data from LIBS, along with advanced visualisation tools and statistical methods, to assess prospectivity and vector toward mineralisation across multiple scales. The approach is grounded in more than a decade of successful CSIRO projects across major Australian Cu and Au systems, including Carrapateena, Ernest Henry,…

P1359A Coarse Particle Flotation and HydroFloat

Amira P1359A will employ Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling to simulate the multiphase flow within the HydroFloat™ cell. This will enable the analysis of interactions between gas bubbles, liquid, and solid particles and help identify optimal operating conditions. Additionally, the research will explore innovative techniques, such as nano-bubbles, oily-bubbles, and aerosol collector dosing, to enhance bubble-particle attachment and improve recovery rates. These advanced methods have the potential to further increase the efficiency of the fluidized bed flotation system. This document…

P1332 East African eXploration Initiative (EAXI)

Program Overview The East African eXploration Initiative (EAXI) is a four-year regional geoscience program designed to improve understanding of the base metal and gold exploration potential of East Africa. Building on the success of the West African eXploration Initiative (WAXI), EAXI applies an integrated research and data-generation approach to reveal the geological “anatomy” of one of the world’s most prospective yet underexplored regions. The program focuses on understanding metal transfer processes across the lithosphere by investigating the unique geological record…

P1367 ESG Governance Tool

Addressing Complexity in ESG Reporting Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting in the minerals industry has become increasingly complex and fragmented. Companies are required to navigate multiple frameworks, memberships, regulatory obligations, and site-level certifications — often with significant overlap. This complexity creates duplication, inefficiency, and compliance risk, particularly for junior and mid-tier companies with limited internal resources. The Amira ESG Tool: A Practical Industry Solution The Amira ESG Intelligence and Governance Tool (Amira ESG Tool) is a global-to-local, AI-enabled ESG…

P1359B RIMM Process For The Recovery of Copper, Cobalt and REE From Low-grade Ores and Mineral Wastes

Program Overview P1359B is an Amira mineral processing research project focused on advancing the Resin in Moist Mix (RIMM) process for the recovery of copper, cobalt, rare earth elements (REE), and other strategic metals from low-grade ores and mineral wastes. The RIMM technology, developed by InnovEco Australia and tested at the University of South Australia, has demonstrated high recovery efficiency combined with low water and reagent consumption. The project aims to expand the current understanding of RIMM’s capability and applicability…

P934C West African eXploration Initiative (WAXI) – Stage 4

The next phase of the highly successful West African Exploration Initiative (WAXI) series of projects. WAXI is assisting the development of the mining ecosystem in West Africa. Sponsors are among those building capacity for future mining exploration in the region. To date WAXI has supported 100 post graduate qualifications, held 1800 technical training days, and developed a 650GB exploration geoscience database. Stage 4 P934C builds on the approach taken in earlier stages by focusing on the mineral potential of the…

P1262 Block modelling and forecasting mine seismicity hazard with more accuracy and better accessibility

Program Overview P1262 is a three-year Amira research project aimed at improving the forecasting of seismic hazards associated with underground mining through the application of advanced numerical and probabilistic modelling methods. The project addresses current limitations in predicting the location, magnitude, and consequences of mining-induced seismic events. The research will develop spatial, probabilistic, and risk-based descriptions of seismic hazard, including the likelihood and potential size of large seismic events, their probable locations, the number of triggered events, and the resulting…

P1288 Preventing tailings dam failures

This project will undertake new research and facilitate knowledge transfer and training activities to help the mining industry prevent failures of tailings storage facilities (TSFs). Particular attention will be given to methods and tools used to assess liquefaction susceptibility as well as the reductions in strengths and stabilities of TSFs post-liquefaction. The research will target poorly understood characteristics of TSFs including: Varying states of saturation High concentrations of fine particles Physical changes with age which occur through internal mechanical and…
